Emory University’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery seeks a full-time fellowship trained Cardiothoracic Surgeon. An appointment at any academic rank is anticipated, depending upon the candidate’s qualifications, though a candidate with a minimum of three years of clinical experience would be viewed favorably. This physician will practice adult cardiac surgery with the Division of Cardiothoracic Services primarily with the Grady Health System Cardiothoracic Service, and potentially at one or more Emory hospitals, including call coverage. Candidates will be considered based on their experience.
Summary of Duties:
Serve as a cardiothoracic surgeon for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery within the Department of Surgery with an active inpatient and outpatient practice, based primarily at Grady Memorial Hospital with coverage potentially at Emory owned and affiliated hospitals.
Participate in efforts to provide outstanding clinical care, maintain/improve quality and patient safety, access to and management of clinical trials, and developing/refining innovative strategies in the field of adult cardiac surgery.
Additional responsibilities include supervision and teaching medical students, residents, fellows, advanced practice providers and Medical/PA students. There are extraordinary opportunities for clinical, outcomes and translational research based on patient volumes, acuity, and external research funding within the Department. Candidates must be Board certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. The ideal candidate will have completed a 2-year ACGME fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery and be board certified. Qualified candidates should submit their curriculum vitae and a personal statement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Board Certified Surgeon with post-graduate training.
A valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia
