Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The School of Medicine Greenville at the University of South Carolina is seeking to hire a Faculty Affairs and Development Director to join our team. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Development of the School of Medicine, the Office for Faculty Affairs and Development (OFAD) Director serves as a senior leader with authority and influence over the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that support the advancement, engagement, and professional growth of approximately 1,400 clinical and biomedical science faculty. The Director plays a critical role in driving institutional excellence in education, scholarship, leadership, and patient care by aligning faculty development initiatives with the overarching strategic priorities of the medical school and our partner health system. This position leads long-term planning efforts, oversees cross-functional collaborations, and ensures the delivery of high-impact, data-informed programming that supports faculty at all career stages. |

Job Duty | Strategic Leadership and Institutional Alignment ·Lead strategic planning and visioning for the Office for Faculty Affairs and development, aligning faculty initiatives with the School of Medicine Greenville (SOMG) and partner health system’s institutional priorities. ·Serve as a senior advisor and thought partner to the Associate Dean, contributing to policy development and system-level faculty development and affairs strategies for SOMG. ·Serve as a senior advisor and thought partner to the Associate Dean for system-level continuing professional development initiatives for our faculty in our partner health system and for other relevant staff (e.g. approximately 1,000 advanced practice providers). ·Direct, oversee, create, implement, and evaluate the Emerging Physician Leaders Development program. ·Co-create and provide leadership for SOMG’s Academy of Educators. ·Co-create and provide leadership for the Advanced Practice Provider Preceptor Certificate Program. ·Direct. oversee and implement OFAD initiatives and programs, including the Group on Women in Medicine and Science, the Distinguished Lecture Series, and a Lecture Series. ·Provide leadership for SOMG-wide existing and yet to be created initiatives focused on faculty leadership, development, collaboration, engagement, well-being, and academic advancement. ·Represent OFAD and SOMG among other leaders inter-institutionally, nationally, and internationally. ·Contribute to elevating the institution’s visibility and reputation through scholarly dissemination and leadership. ·Provide budgetary oversight in alignment with institutional goals. ·Consult for SOMG leadership on LCME accreditation activities. ·Consult for SOMG and SOM Columbia leadership on institutional initiatives on joint accreditation for continuing professional education. |
