Job Summary
This position provides assistance in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining building automation systems and schedules. Programs building automation systems and manages software to control and monitor buildings.
This position will also work with controls technicians, campus-wide in the buildings, when needed for troubleshooting, repairing, training on, and upgrading building automation system components.
Responsibilities
Programs building sequencing operations, alarm set points, and energy management programs using established building automation programs and software; Maintains existing systems and evaluates new systems; Modifies sequence of operations to meet building occupant needs and operating schedules; Reviews new building control systems for conformance to University standards; Identifies flaws or errors in building automation programs and implements solutions; Evaluates programming methods and implements changes to reduce energy consumption; Responds to alarms or system failures and makes all necessary program changes; Coordinates with Building Operators, HVAC shop, vendors, and other facilities personnel as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in electronics, a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), AND 3 years experience programming electronic controls and mechanical systems. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in building automation systems programming and knowledge of HVAC mechanical/electrical systems.
Preferences
Exceptionally qualified candidates will:
  • Be proficient at programming network engines such as NEA’s/SNE’s and Jace’s.
  • Be capable of relaying complex technical information to non-technical team members and other stakeholders.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of controls for mechanical systems with special emphasis on building-wide HVAC controls.
  • Be capable of updating/programming graphics for the controls technicians’ user interface
  • Possess excellent knowledge of: Metasys, Delta, Distech and Tridium Niagara N4 systems
