Position Summary | The Department of Biology at Indiana University Northwest invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track position with summer assignments and associated stipend in accordance with programmatic need. The Assistant Professor of Biology will be an experienced biology scholar/teacher with a disciplinary research focus in anatomy, physiology or a related field. They should be committed to the success of a diverse body of students and have an active record of scholarship. Core responsibilities include overseeing and teaching the non-majors’ human anatomy and physiology course series (PHSL-P 130, PHSL-P 261 and PHSL-P 262) as well as majors courses related to their area of expertise and as programmatic needs dictate; conducting disciplinary research; and participating in service activities. The Assistant Professor of Biology position is responsible for a 12-hour per semester teaching load with an expected productive program of research and scholarly publication supported by a reduction in teaching load. Active involvement in service to the department, campus, discipline, and the community is also expected. ABOUT INDIANA UNIVERSITY NORTHWEST One of seven campuses of Indiana University, IU Northwest is located in metropolitan Northwest Indiana, approximately 30 miles southeast of Chicago and 10 miles from the Indiana Dunes National Park. The campus has a diverse student population of approximately 3,500 degree-seeking students and 1,800 dual-credit students and has been recognized by the Department of Education as a minority and Hispanic serving institution. The campus offers Associate, Baccalaureate, and Master’s degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health and Human Services, the School of Business and Economics, the School of the Arts, and the School of Education.
