Job Summary
Responsible to the Head Baseball Coach for instruction, development, preparation, recruitment and retention of baseball student-athletes. Assistant Baseball Coach will be expected to maintain compliance with New Orleans Athletics, Southland Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Assistant Coach must adhere to University of New Orleans, UL System and State of Louisiana policies and procedures. Assistant Baseball Coach will promote the advancement of the University's vision and support the University's mission through the process of advancing the baseball program and graduating student-athletes.

Job Description
  • Coaching and Instructing Student-Athletes; Teaching and Preparing Student-Athletes for Competition: 60%

  • Evaluating, Recruiting and Retaining Student-Athletes: 25%

  • Monitoring & Supporting Academic Progress of Student-Athletes: 15%

Moreover, the Assistant Men's Baseball Coach will:  

  • Continually promote the University's mission, vision and accomplishments. 

  • Accept and be attentive to the health and welfare of student-athletes as a primary responsibility. 

  • Assist and support Head Baseball Coach with all areas of the baseball program. 

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Vice President, Athletics & Recreation and/or Head Baseball Coach. 

  • Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of University of New Orleans, Southland Conference and NCAA rules & regulations. 

  • Employee shall conduct himself/herself in an ethical manner in accordance with the standards established by the NCAA, University of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana.    

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 1-3 years professional experience as a high school, college or professional baseball coach or member of a college baseball coaching staff. 

  • Thorough knowledge of and commitment to NCAA compliance and University of New Orleans policies and procedures.

  • Proven ability to build rapport and effective, collaborative relationships with student-athletes, fellow coaches, administration, faculty and alumni.

  • Demonstrated administrative, organizational and recruiting skills and applied experience in these areas.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.

  • 2-4 years of college baseball coaching experience.
