Assistant Director of Student Success and Multicultural Programming - Center for Multicultural Equity & Access

The Center for Multicultural Equity and Access (CMEA ) enhances the education of students who have historically experienced barriers to access and success in higher education. The vast social and economic inequalities disrupted a sense of justice as “we walk with the excluded” towards a “hope-filled future.” We actively promote access to educational attainment for diverse populations through intentional programming, services, and opportunities.
The Assistant Director of Student Success and Multicultural Programming is a full-time staff member in the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) in the Division of Student Affairs. This position reports to the Associate Director and/or Senior Associate Dean of Students and provides the Georgetown community with academic support services and educational programming/training. This role collaborates closely with the Academic Departments/Deans, Center for Student Engagement, Student Outreach and SupportOffice of Residential Living, and other key departments across the institution. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide support to high impact activities such as college awareness programs, new student orientation, student success supplemental instruction, leadership, and personal development activities.
Advise students who are experiencing distress or academic challenges, meeting with resident directors and residents on a weekly basis.
Develop reports that analyze the success of programmatic efforts and status of graduation and retention metrics relative to student belonging, mattering, and student success
Select, train, and advise house residents of Black House and Casa Latina, along with other emerging living and learning communities.
Develop and advise residential programming that promotes student growth, involvement in learning, engagement, and inclusion on campus, managing Pre-Orientation and other transitions programs.
Facilitate leadership training for residents/programming members for educational and multicultural programming (i.e. Event planning/management/marketing, risk management/contract negotiation)
Select, train, and supervise student coordinator and peer leaders, providing workshops and trainings on student success strategies, community building, and student well-being in collaboration with other units/staff.
Plan and facilitate student leader and identity development training for residents, participating and contributing as a team member within the office staffing unit on assigned projects.
Oversee reservations, facilities, dining services, and technology for programming needs related to academic support services, diversity education, and pre-college programs.
Manage individual program budgets and financial oversight, assisting with financial accounting and posting procedures.
Staff and supervise on-site programs and activities, including late-night and weekend student activities
Work Interactions
The Assistant Director will oversee student success initiatives and educational programs while collaborating on a wide range of campus events and student leadership opportunities. This position provides direct advising and programming for a diverse population of college students identified as first-generation, high financial need, and/or students from diverse backgrounds. In addition, this role will also work directly with students who hold leadership positions within CMEA-monitored multicultural organizations and living learning spaces such as Black House and Casa Latina, and peer-facilitated programs. The Assistant Director designs and teaches workshops to students related to dimensions of difference, social justice and allyship.
Requirements and Qualifications
Masters degree required in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, social work or related discipline with a minimum of two years work experience
Demonstrated knowledge of student development, leadership development, program design & implementation
Demonstrated knowledge of theories of student development, social justice, , and a demonstrated experience in advising student groups and organizations
Experience in working with students who have historically experienced barriers to access and success in higher education
Demonstrated commitment to providing student-centered support to growing, fast-moving, hard-working teams
Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills; detail-oriented; ability to multitask and prioritize tasks; and able to learn quickly
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to successfully and effectively liaise with various audiences and stakeholders within and across departments in a multicultural environment
Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and on own initiative, with flexibility to changing priorities

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
