Position Summary:


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Director, Communications and Marketing for the Dean's Office within the School of Engineering.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Collaborates to develop and implement strategic marketing plans for the School of Engineering, including its seven departments and graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • Works with committees and individuals across the school to plan the marketing for academic programs (undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education) of the school and general awareness.
  • Operationalizes those plans through activities including digital advertising, digital marketing, paid search, Google ads, paid social, organic search, print materials, and other appropriate tactics.
  • Analyzes marketing and recruitment data to assure the effectiveness of the plans and activities.
  • Provides reports and analyses to deans, administrators, and others and adjusts strategies and tactics appropriately based on the analyses.
  • Performs professional work that requires specialized knowledge of marketing strategies and tactics including digital marketing and analytics, and requires understanding and application of marketing theories, principles, and practices.
  • Provides support for content creation related to social media, school and department websites, and print materials, events including convocation and Medal of Excellence awards dinner and alumni engagement through newsletters and other publications.
  • Collaborates on the overall communication and marketing plan for a the school.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field and 5 years of relevant experience in a marketing or promotions function or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates skill, comprehensive knowledge, and understanding of marketing strategy, digital marketing, creative content development, and project management.
