About the Role

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide health psychology support to the delivery of research activity for the NIHR-funded Programme Grant for Applied Research -IMproving outcomes for ovarian cancer Patients by Refining Evidenced based tools that drive Surgical Standardisation – Part 2 (IMPRESS-2).

You will be required to undertake the following key activities:

  • Engage with clinicians and patients in a collaborative co-design process to develop and test (using health psychology theory and methods) innovative, evidence- and theory-based tools, including:
  •  (i) Treatment decision support tailored to those diagnosed with ovarian cancer 
  •  (ii) Shared decision-making skills training for healthcare professionals. 
  • Co-deliver evidence- and theory-based shared decision-making skills training to clinicians directly involved in the care/treatment of people diagnosed with ovarian cancer and provide health psychology input to evaluation of training and development of fidelity measures.
  • Play a key role in contributing health psychology expertise (theory and methods) to the development and roll-out of a randomised controlled trial and mixed methods evaluation.
  • Identify research funding opportunities and develop appropriate applications to support both individual and collaborative research initiatives.
  • Disseminate the results of research and scholarly activity through publications, development of learning materials, conference presentations, and exhibit work at appropriate events via the media.

About You

Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent and have demonstrable specialist expert knowledge in health psychology theory and methods.
