Research Assistant (Temporary Assignment)
We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant who will be based in the Department of Psychology working as part of an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded project examining young people’s attitudes towards other animals. The Research Assistant will be responsible for collecting data in schools in the South-West and South-East of the UK, which will involve conducting one-to-one interviews with children.
The successful applicant will also play a role in data curation, data preparation and project management. The role will require travel to London for data collection but can be held remotely so long as the candidate can travel to schools in these areas.
The role is available for 12 weeks, full time (36.5 hours per week), from September 2025 to December 2025 (exact start and end dates to be confirmed). The salary will be £21.95ph inclusive of holiday pay, this is equivalent to £37,174 pa pro rata.
About You
Essential Criteria:
- Studying towards or holding a degree in Psychology or a related field
- Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, and data management
- Excellent organisational skills in problem solving and time management
- Strong interpersonal skills that would allow you to communicate effectively with both adult stakeholders (e.g. teachers) and children as participants in the study
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant experience working with schools and young people
- Experience working in R and R Studio to manage and wrangle data
- Experience with longitudinal methods and data analysis
