Research Assistant (Narita Group) (Fixed Term)

Join us at the world-leading CRUK Cambridge Institute! We are a unique department of the University of Cambridge, core-funded by Cancer Research UK's charitable activities. The Narita Laboratory (https://www.naritalab.com/ ) seeks a skilled Research Assistant for a 3-year fixed-term role starting October 2025.

The Narita Laboratory investigates the interplay between cellular senescence and tumour initiation, focusing on complex cell¿cell communication dynamics (e.g., Nature 2024 PMID 39112713)

The successful candidate will work closely alongside a postdoctoral research associate, Dr Iannish Sadien, to contribute to cutting-edge research on the early detection and prevention of primary intestinal tumours using animal models of ageing. The project involves a range of advanced techniques, such as complex mouse genetics, multiplex-immunolabelling (tissues), single-cell omics, and somatic mutation analysis. The successful candidate will also assist lab management, working closely with Dr Andrew Young.

The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative and independent thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.

Applicants must have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant discipline and prior mouse work and/or laboratory experience.

This position is offered at Grade 5 on the university scale. Interviews are expected to take place in late August-September 2025.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
