Postdoctoral Researcher in Sustainable Polymers Grade 7

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Postdoctoral Researcher to carry out research in the areas of smart sustainable polymers and polymer nanocomposites in the research group of Professor Biqiong Chen, based in the Department of Chemistry and the Materials Innovation Factory.

Key responsibilities and duties:
¿       Design, synthesise and characterise new smart sustainable polymers and/or polymer nanocomposites
¿       Manufacture prototypes using the new materials and evaluate their performance
¿       Investigate science underlying the material functions and processes
¿       Work with internal and external collaborators as appropriate
¿       Produce high-quality journal publications
¿       Assist Group Leader in the preparation of funding proposals to external bodies
¿       Assist Group Leader in the supervision of junior researchers
¿       Assist Group Leader in the day-to-day management of laboratories
¿       Undertake other duties as appropriate to the post 

This post is full time and fixed term until 31 August 2027.

You should have obtained a PhD, or passed PhD viva, in Materials Science, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.

If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
