About the Role

The post is based in the Trauma Sciences Research team within the Centre for Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma. The Trauma Sciences research team (www.c4ts.qmul.ac.uk) provides the framework for trauma sciences research that aims to understand the biology of severe injury and drive improvements in clinical outcomes. We have strong links with other groups across a range of scientific disciplines both within and beyond QMUL and are a core member of the International Trauma Research Network that includes academic partners across Europe and North America. Our highly developed human discovery infrastructure enables recruitment of 200-300 severely injured patients annually as part of the ACIT study. We also have a well-established experimental modelling group with full ethical approvals in place for all proposed human and animal studies. The Centre is intimately linked to the Royal London Hospital Major Trauma Centre, which is among the highest-volume trauma centres in Europe and widely considered to be at the forefront of contemporary trauma care.

About You

  • The post holder must be pursuing / completed a PhD degree or equivalent in Bio Medical Science related field.
  • Pursuing / completed PhD degree or equivalent in immunobiology, platelet biology or megakaryocyte related field is a plus.
  • You must have a Graduate degree in relevant biological sciences with a minimum of upper second-class honors.
  • Essential experience in performing experiments using human cells, murine tissues and/or cell lines.
  • You must have previous experience on handling scientific data, data analysis and statistics.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills and willing learn additional skills as well.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible and professional approach to work.
