We are seeking a talented, organised, and highly motivated individual to join the Department of Eye and Vision Sciences at the University of Liverpool as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, funded by a Medical Research Council (MRC) award. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an innovative project focused on developing state-of-the-art, AI-powered diagnostic and prognostic tools for the early detection of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and prediction of its progression to Alzheimer¿s disease through the analysis of corneal nerve images. You will be based in the Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences and will work closely with a large, interdisciplinary team of academic researchers and clinical collaborators.
You should have a PhD (or be about to obtain) in areas relevant to artificial intelligence (AI) (e.g. computer science, engineering, Statistics, and mathematics etc.)
The post is available for 30 months, starting on 1 September 2025.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
If you require a visa to work in the UK, the University of Liverpool may be able to support your application for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. Or there maybe the option to support your application under the Global Talent Visa, depending on your circumstances you may find you can apply for one independently without University support.
