179935 – Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS)
Grade 7: Salary in the range of £38,674-£40,855 per annum
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the research group of Professor Tal Arnon at the Kennedy Institute in Oxford for an exciting project exploring B cell migration in the spleen. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in handling and processing live spleens and an established expertise in live imaging of this organ.
As a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you will manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate, develop ideas for generating research income, and present detailed research proposals to senior researchers. Additionally, you will collaborate on the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles, occasionally present papers and posters and carry out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups.
You must hold a PhD/DPhil (or near completion). You will have extensive experience in live imaging of the spleen using 2-photon microscopy, as well as in developing approaches to track cell migration in the spleen in real time. Extensive experience with immunization and infection models is also essential. Experience in independently managing a discrete area of a research project is desirable.
Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:
• A satisfactory basic Disclosure and Barring Service check
• University security screening (eg identity checks)
The closing date for this position is 12 noon on 16 June 2025. Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application. Please quote 179935 in all correspondence.
