This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 2 years.
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Translational Biology to join our research team at Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre which is based at Botnar Research Centre, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), Oxford
As a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Translational Biology you will be performing laboratory experiments and data analysis to support drug and disease research in multiple projects in the group. The
candidate is expected to lead a drug development project and support other group projects. This will include lab experiments, analysing data and presenting and writing papers or new grant proposals. You will specifically interrogate multiple Myeloma cell lines for studying the mechanism of action of epigenetic therapy in sensitive Multiple Myeloma for cell autonomous effects vs resistant cell lines. In partnership with industrial and academic collaborators analyse patient derived genomic, immune, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data to build hypothesis and test them in laboratory models. You will contribute ideas for new research projects, collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in a biomedical discipline with direct relevance to molecular techniques together with a relevant laboratory experience to undertake cell based analysis of drug activities. Ability to develop assays for testing compounds and their mechanisms based on genetics, OMICs and other assays is essential. We are looking for a candidate who would be able to deliver high quality research outputs, as demonstrated by a strong publication record in high profile scientific journals. A passion for problem-solving and research in the areas of genomics and single-cell biology that is grounded in expert-level knowledge or experience is essential. Experience in drug related research, experience of presenting work at meetings and cross-disciplinary collaborative experience are desirable.
The closing date for this position is 12 noon on 6 June 2025. Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application. Please quote 179788 in all correspondence
