The Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen, is world-leading in nutrition research focussing on some of the key global challenges with regards to healthy and sustainable diets, food safety, and the Scottish food supply chain. The research contributes not only to new scientific knowledge, but also to new understanding to underpin Government policies and to inform innovation for industry leading to increased economic growth. Our main source of funding is from the Scottish Government funded Strategic Research Programme (SRP) which we deliver along with five other globally renowned institutes as part of Scottish Environment, Food and Agriculture Research Institutions (SEFARI).


Job Description

The Rowett building includes a modern Human Nutrition Unit (HNU). The HNU provides facilities to study the relationship between diet and health in humans and has a dedicated team of dieticians, clinical staff and research and nutrition assistants.

We are seeking a proactive and highly motivated Nutrition Assistant to join our team. You will be working in our state-of-the art kitchen, responsible for designing and preparing diets according to research protocols but will also be required to input and analyse food diaries’ data, as well as supporting teaching and knowledge exchange activities. The ability to interact with members of the public and students is essential as you will be involved in knowledge exchange events and interacting with study volunteers and students.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 4 scale, 80% of £26,942 - £30,805 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
