The Department of Computer Science (DIDA) is one of three departments at the Faculty of Computing. The department is BTH's largest department, with 70 people. The research at the department is conducted in four major areas: artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing and distributed systems, computer graphics and visualization, and cryptography and computer security. There are a number of research projects in all areas.
Work description
The position includes research and teaching in computer science at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. The applicant is expected to participate actively in leading and developing the department’s research and educational activities.
Our research is applied and carried out in close collaboration with industry and the public sector. For this position, we are looking for a candidate with documented experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Security mechanisms for distributed systems, for example
- Blockchains and distributed ledger technologies
- AI for the security of distributed systems
- Distributed identity management
- Security and performance of software-defined networks
- Security and performance of 5G/6G networks
- SmartGrid systems and/or their security
- Cloud systems and their security, for example
- Managing and testing security for cloud systems deployed for business and/or governmental organizations
- Concepts and techniques for digital sovereignty (for example, European cloud stack, privacy, or IPR protection in clouds)

The research tasks include conducting and publishing research of high international quality, leading and developing research activities, as well as applying for external research funding at national and international levels.
The teaching tasks include lecturing, practical elements and course development at undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, supervision of theses and project work at undergraduate and graduate level is included. There is also the opportunity for supervision of doctoral students.
The work tasks also include educational planning and administration as well as participation in the department’s internal work.
The teaching at undergraduate level is mainly in Swedish, while the teaching at graduate and postgraduate level is mainly in English. We expect a non-Swedish-speaking employee to acquire sufficient Swedish skills within three years to be able to teach in Swedish and communicate with the university's units/ functions in Swedish.
Great importance is placed on good social skills and a strong work ethic.
Eligibility requirements
Eligible to be employed as an associate senior lecture is a person who has been awarded a doctoral degree or has attained equivalent scientific competence. Preference should be given to those who were awarded a doctoral degree or attained equivalent competence no more than five years prior to the application deadline for the employment as associate senior lecturer. Persons who have been awarded a doctoral degree or attained equivalent competence earlier can be considered for the employment if special reasons exist. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances. (HF Chapter 4, § 4a).

Meriting competencies and experience
In addition to the requirements described in the work description and the eligibility requirements and assessment criteria described in the Guidelines document, the following degrees, competencies, and experiences are considered as merits:
- Ability to perform independent research of a high international quality in computer science.
- Documented experience working on national and international projects.
- Documented experience of applied research in collaboration with relevant actors within the industry/public sector.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Documented good language skills in English and in Swedish.

Duration: Tenure track; initially 4 years with a right to be promoted to a permanent senior lecturer position when the assessment criteria for promotion are fulfilled.
