ICFO is coordinating the PIXEurope Pilot Line, a flagship initiative under the European Chips JU framework focused on Advanced Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). As part of this effort, ICFO is advancing frontier technologies, including colloidal quantum dot (CQD) integration with PIC platforms for next-generation optoelectronic and photonic devices.
To strengthen this initiative, ICFO is seeking a Process Developer with a strong technical background in CQD processing and integration with PICs, ideally in industrial or application-driven environments
Position Overview:
We offer a staff research engineer position to an experienced scientist or engineer with demonstrated expertise in colloidal quantum dot technologies, especially where these materials interface with integrated photonics platforms. The successful candidate will contribute to both technical innovation and Pilot Line development in collaboration with academic and industrial stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Take a leading technical role in the development of processes for CQD-PIC integration within the PIXEurope Pilot Line.
- Contribute to application-specific R&D&E projects, particularly in collaboration with industrial end-users and consortia partners
- Develop and optimize processing techniques and services involving CQDs for open-access use by Pilot Line customers.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the establishment of high-quality fabrication workflows.
- Support characterization and metrology efforts associated with CQD thin films and devices.
This position is hosted by the Optoelectronics group, led by Prof. Dr. Valerio PruneriFunctional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials group led by Prof. Dr. Gerasimos Konstantatos.
This contract has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe under the Grant Agreement # 101213727, Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) and the Spanish Ministry for Digital Transformation and Civil Service, and is supported by funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
