Fixed Term: 21 months.
Applications are sought for a committed Research Fellow to work with Dr Daniel M. Knight conducting research for a Humanities in the European Research Area – Collaboration of Humanities and Social Sciences in Europe (HERA-CHANSE) project entitled Times in Crisis, Times of Crisis (TiCToC). The primary duties will be to conduct ethnographic, archival, and media research in Greece as part of work package 2 “Economic Crisis in the Mediterranean”. The postdoctoral researcher will pay regular visits to Greece for up to a period of 12 months to be involved in participant observation, archival and media research over the 22-month period. Research may relate to the environmental, energy, migration, or heritage landscape as connected to economic crisis and the wider polycrisis trope. The successful candidate will be expected to publish original research articles and contribute to the outputs of the HERA-CHANSE project.
The successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in anthropology or closely related discipline with expertise in either the thematic of crisis or in the regional setting of Greece. The successful applicant will be proficient in the language of their chosen field site.
The post is available for 21 months starting September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
