Research Technician

Deliver hands-on research in dryland pastures through trial management, stock monitoring, and collaborative student and team support. 

Mō te tūka | The role

Support world-leading research in sustainable dryland farming systems and help shape the future of regenerative agriculture.

Be part of a collaborative research team working on dryland pastures where you'll manage field trials, support students, and contribute to impactful agricultural research. This hands-on role is ideal for someone passionate about pasture systems and practical science in a farm-based setting.

Some tasks of the role include:

  • Managing field trials and on-farm research experiments
  • Monitoring sheep grazing, pasture production, and environmental data
  • Analysing and reporting results from dryland pasture trials
  • Coordinating and instructing students and casual staff in fieldwork
  • Supporting field days and knowledge-sharing activities
  • Maintaining accurate records and assisting with project admin

Permanent role, 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) at our Lincoln Campus. Salary: $64,000 - $70,000 per annum, depending on experience.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Hands-on experience with sheep grazing and stock management
  • Proven ability to run field experiments and collect data
  • Strong data handling and organisational skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Commitment to health, safety, and research integrity
