Te āheinga: The opportunity

We are seeking a registered nurse, who is passionate about nursing education and have practice experience for a minimum of three years post-graduation.  

The role supports the delivery of courses across the programme. We will use your skills and specialist knowledge to facilitate learning in any of the areas of acute medical surgical, mental health, aged care, primary health care in the classroom simulation lab and supervision of students in the clinical areas. The roles have lots of variety. Preference will be given to applicants having experience and interest in teaching nursing acute care nursing and aged care.

As we are proud of our contemporary approaches to teaching and learning, you'll be supported to deliver teaching and learning strategies based on applied research findings to support our students achieve great results and be employed in a wide range of nursing practice environments.

This fixed-term position concludes on 5th of December 2025.

He kōrero mōu: About you

The successful candidate needs to have a passion for promoting nursing education and committed to being part of a team.

You'll have:

  • Registration as a New Zealand (NZ) Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
  • A minimum of 3 years post graduate nursing practice experience (a NCNZ requirement).
  • A keen interest and be open to learn more about education and facilitating student learning in a classroom, clinical practice area and simulation lab.
  • A qualification to master's level or a plan to work towards this (NCNZ requirement)
  • An understanding or desire to learn te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments

In general, as nurse educators, we can influence the community of Waitakere through the support/training of nursing students who will then be able to support the maintenance of physical/mental/emotional health for people in Waitakere and wider communities.  Health New Zealand requires more Registered Nurses to be trained and committed to the Waitakere community to ensure that there are sufficient resources to support the growing healthcare needs in this area.
