Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
In this role, you will design and deliver innovative and impactful learning experiences for research students and supervisors at Te Kura Tāura | UC Graduate School. Working closely with academic and professional staff, you'll create high-quality online modules, media content, and authentic assessments grounded in evidence-based practice. You'll contribute your expertise to every stage of the design process—from scoping and storyboarding to editing—ensuring alignment with strategic goals and learner needs.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing engaging online content and learning experiences tailored to research student and supervisor needs.
- Applying best practices in learning design, including clear learning objectives and authentic assessment strategies.
- Using eLearning authoring tools, LMS functionality (especially Moodle)
- Collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders to plan, produce, and review learning materials.
- Supporting and embedding UC's values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and tiakitanga through inclusive, empowering design practices.
- Managing projects and timelines while proactively identifying and mitigating risks throughout the learning design process.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will have experience in a Learning Design-related role, particularly in hybrid and online learning, preferably within a tertiary education environment, as well as:
- experience in learning design or instructional design, preferably in an academic setting.
- proficiency in creating instructional content and writing for digital formats, including scripts for video/audio.
- familiarity with online delivery platforms and tools for managing hybrid/blended course content (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, or similar systems)
- strong understanding of online pedagogy and learner-centred design principles.
- effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
- a commitment to cultural competency, with respect for Māori values, language, and practices.
