Environmental Research Assistant
Three year fixed-term role supporting vital soil research through data analysis, academic support, and project coordination in a collaborative science team.

Make an impact in environmental research by supporting projects that enhance the sustainability of our agricultural systems.
Join a vibrant research team in the Centre for Soil and Environmental Research where you will contribute to impactful environmental science through data analysis, project coordination, and academic support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a science background who thrives on research, teamwork, and making a real-world difference.
Some tasks of the role include:
- Collecting and analysing environmental data for research projects
- Preparing scientific reports, publications, and funding proposals
- Supporting postgraduate students and academic staff
- Coordinating workshops, seminars, and meetings
- Managing project logistics, invoicing, and records
- Contributing to the development of AI tools for research
Three-year fixed term role, working 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) at our Lincoln Campus. Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A relevant science qualification, ideally a PhD
- Proven experience in environmental research and data analysis
- Strong writing skills for reports and academic outputs
- Familiarity with financial reporting and project coordination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
- A proactive, organised, and collaborative working style
- Alignment with Manaakitaka and Lincoln University values.
