Project Context As freshwater scarcity and environmental regulations increase, electrochemical separation technologies are gaining significant interest for sustainable seawater desalination.

This postdoctoral position is part of a research project aiming to design, optimize, and evaluate electrochemical systems [electrodialysis with bipolar membranes (BMED] for sustainable desalination brine treatment, at the crossroads of electrochemistry, membrane science, and environmental engineering.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and operate lab-scale BMED setups, including multi-compartment electrochemical cells.
  • Test and characterize membranes: transport properties and selectivity.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance: current efficiency, ion separation rates, energy consumption, etc.
  • Model ion transport and system behavior under different operational conditions.
  • Collaborate with researchers in diverse projects and contribute to scientific publications and project reporting

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in electrochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with electrodialysis, electrochemical separation, or membrane processes.
  • Strong knowledge of ion transport mechanisms and membrane behavior.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools
  • Skilled in setting up experimental systems and troubleshooting.
  • Scientific rigor, teamwork ability, and good communication skills (English proficiency required; French optional but appreciated).

Position Details

  • Contract: Full-time postdoc, 18-month fixed-term, renewable depending on project progress and funding.
  • Facilities: Access to GSMI equipment and analytical platforms.
  • Environment: Multidisciplinary lab, collaborative projects with academia and/or industry, opportunities for conference participation.
