Trinity College Dublin- an introduction

Post Summary

The O’Shaughnessy research group at the University of Dublin, Trinity College, in collaboration with Dr Siyuan Zhan, is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral research fellow to develop lithium-ion battery management systems (BMS). This work is part of a larger project aiming to develop novel battery thermal management systems (BTMS). The main tasks include

(i)                  The development of an integrated model for the BMS-BTMS, incorporating electronic, thermo-fluid models, and efficiency models

(ii)                BMS-BTMS operation policy design, which will be based on optimal control techniques and will focus on both electric power allocation and thermal management to achieve optimal performance

(iii)              Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) validation to simulate components and connected systems to predict thermal behaviour and system responses under drive cycling, fast charging, and high ambient temperatures

(iv)              Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) to integrate system hardware with the simulated environment to enable validation of hardware performance under simulated real-world conditions.
