Postdoctoral research fellow in Experimental Infrastructure for optical communications, radio and cloud
Post Summary
OpenIreland, the reconfigurable 5G and beyond radio, optical, and cloud testbed headquartered at Trinity College Dublin, provides virtualized 5G radio, optical transmission equipment, software virtualisation, Cloud-RAN, Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV), and Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies (including OpenFlow and Netconf) to support the experimental investigation of the interplay between future networks and new radio. The testbed includes indoor and outdoor 5G new radio, cloud, and optical transmission equipment deployed within Trinity College Dublin, around the Dublin Docklands area, and out to the DCU Campus in North Dublin.
The testbed is used to carry out experiments on novel optical access and metro networks, Open RAN experimentation and cloud-drive network architectures to support future applications and services for 6G and beyond.
The research fellow position will have the task to manage the OpenIreland testbed in Trinity College and contribute and support experimentation on optical communications in metro and access networks in support of next generation of mobile services.
The position will be based in the CONNECT research centre, in The School of Computer Science and Statistics, at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. The research fellow will have the opportunity to build their research portfolio within a range of projects within CONNECT.
