The following position at the Heidelberg Center for Ibero-American Studies (HCIAS) of Heidelberg University, Germany, is to be filled as soon as possible:

Postdoctoral researcher (f/m/d)

Part or full-time, 29,625 or 39,5 hours/week

The HCIAS is a central academic institution at the intersection of the humanities, social sciences, and behavioral sciences that deals with interdisciplinary issues relating to the Ibero-American macro-region. The position is integrated into the research and teaching activities of the HCIAS′s “Society, Culture, and Communication in Ibero-America” department.

Your tasks:

  • Design, management, and implementation of independent research projects related to one of the research focuses of the professorship (primarily political sociology, social movement studies, environmental sociology, gender studies, agrarian and food studies)
  • Writing scientific articles for renowned journals and book chapters, organizing panels, and presenting papers at conferences
  • Independent and collaborative design of project proposals
  • Teaching of up to two courses per semester

Your profile:

  • Completed Ph.D. in sociology, political science or anthropology
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work and methodological reflection
  • Subject-specific and methodological knowledge in Latin American sociology, political sociology, environmental sociology, decolonial/postcolonial theories, agrarian and food studies, or gender studies
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work
  • Publication record or active research agenda with reviewed manuscripts
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
  • Good knowledge of German
  • Good knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese

Also welcome are:

  • Teaching experience in a university context
  • Prior experience in writing grant proposals

Remuneration for the position is based on pay group 13 TV-L. The contract is limited to 24 months.
