We offer a postdoc position in a project aiming at the development of organoid models for inflammatory bowel diseases. The project is a collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP, the Medical Campus of the Goethe University, and Sanofi. The position will be based in Frankfurt am Main.

What you will do

  • Development of patient-derived organoid models for inflammatory bowel diseases using primary cells from biopsy samples. Innovative development of complex co-culture systems combining patient-derived organoids with autologous immune cells to recreate human intestinal inflammation, establishing a novel pharmacological platform for preclinical drug evaluation.

Evaluate disease trajectory and predictive potential through comparative spatial transcriptomic and single-cell analysis of organoid models and patient biopsy samples.

What you bring to the table

  • PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or related discipline
  • Experience with stem cell-derived organoid  culture, profound knowledge of molecular, cell biology and immunology techniques with hands-on experience
  • Advantageous but not required: Expertise in single cell analysis technology3D high-throughput imaging or patient biosample processing
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team of scientists with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Independent problem solving and systematic data-driven experimental design and execution
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position isinitially limited to two years and is also available on a part-time basis.
