Postdoc - Machine learning / Artificial Intelligence and big data science in the field of synchrotron research

Your Job:

At the Institute for a Sustainable Hydrogen Economy (Institute for a Sustainable Hydrogen Economy - Catalytic Interfaces for Chemical Hydrogen Storage (INW-1), Director Hans-Georg Steinrück), we investigate mechanisms and processes of chemical hydrogen storage using advanced methods (including large-scale research facilities) as well as modern data reduction and data evaluation methods. The current project deals with the use of machine learning / artificial intelligence and big data science in the field of synchrotron research.

• Development and application of machine learning / artificial intelligence methods in the field of synchrotron research
  
• Development and application of big data science methods in the field of synchrotron research
  
• Participation in synchrotron beam times
  
• Publication and presentation of results in high-ranking and recognized journals and at national and international conferences
  
• Collaboration with other research groups
  
• Supervision of PhD students and other students
  
• Support in the preparation of third-party funding proposals
  
• Support in establishing the institute

Your Profile:

• Master`s degree in physics, chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, computer Science, or related disciplines with PhD
  
• Extensive knowledge of machine learning/artificial intelligence and big data science
  
• Extensive knowledge of programming languages (ideally Python)
  
• Basic knowledge of synchrotron research
  
• Fluent in written and spoken English
  
• Very independent and self-motivated way of working but also excellent teamwork skills
  
• High motivation to take on responsibility and develop own research ideas

Salary and social benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund), pay group 13, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to them.
