Do you have a computational background and interest in developing novel tools for integrating structural biology data to understand regulation of disordered regions of proteins? Then the Viennet lab at iNANO invites you to apply for a Postdoc position funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (initially 2 years, extendable to 4 years).
Job description
The position aims at developing new computational tools to integrate various structural biology data (NMR, SAXS, FRET, EPR) as well as computational models and simulations to create and interpret conformational ensembles of disordered protein regions, with the goal of understanding their regulation by phosphorylation.
You will be in charge of writing and testing code, developing, deploying and maintaining software. Your work will benefit from the experimental data generated by two PhD students in the groups, and your newly developed tools will support the analysis and interpretation of their data.
You will interact strongly with several international collaborators, both experimentalists and computational groups.
You will be expected to present your results at local and international conferences.
Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in data science, computer science, computational biology or other relevant fields.
Applicants must have excellent skills in English (oral and written) and be independent, creative, and dependable.
Applicants should have several publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, experience in presenting their work and strong personal and team-work skills. Demonstrated experience working in large collaborative environments is a plus.
Priority will be given to applicants with previous experience in software development for structural biology or NMR.
Who we are
The Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO;
inano.au.dk) at Aarhus University is a modern research and education center with a particular emphasis on collaboration across traditional disciplinary boundaries. iNANO is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in microscopy, diffraction, spectroscopy and NMR. The NMR research is also embedded within the Department of Chemistry (
chem.au.dk).
The Viennet lab in the bioNMR group focuses on elucidating protein regulation by NMR and investigates protein disorder, dynamics and interactions. We are part of the Danish Center for Ultra-high field NMR spectroscopy and have access to facilities for SAXS, smFRET, etc.
More information can be found at:
https://inano.au.dk/about/research-centers-and-projects/nmr/
Aarhus University provides a strong international research and training environment with excellent professional and private conditions. Foreign employees can get help and information from the AU International Center (au.dk/en/internationalcentre ) and Work in Denmark (workindenmark.dk ). Tax reduction schemes for researchers may apply.
What we offer
The iNANO center offers:
- a well-developed research infrastructure, laboratories and access to shared equipment
- an exciting interdisciplinary environment with many national, international and industrial collaborators
- a research climate encouraging lively, open and critical discussion within and across different fields of research
- a work environment with close working relationships, networking and social activities
- a workplace characterised by professionalism, equality and a healthy work-life balance.
Place of work and area of employment
The place of work is the iNANO house, Gustav Wieds Vej 14, 8000 Aarhus C, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments.
