Job Description

A postdoctoral fellowship in medicinal chemistry of sterol transport proteins funded by a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant and the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) is available at the Department of Chemistry at The Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The project will be under the supervision of Associate Professor Luca Laraia and will start on ‘September 1st 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. You will join a young and dynamic research team working at the interface of chemistry and biology.

Responsibilities and qualifications
One of the main goals of our research group is the identification of selective modulators and tool compounds for sterol transport proteins to study their basic biology and translational potential. You will develop and apply inhibitors of sterol transporters to profile their effect on lipid trafficking and composition in cells, as well as their effects on cellular metabolic pathways. The project is in close collaboration with other group members including other synthetic chemists, protein biochemists and the proteomics and metabolomics core facilities.

You should have a PhD in protein biochemistry and biophysics, with experience in expression and purification of recombinant proteins, as well as biochemical and biophysical assay development. Experience in structural biology (especially x-ray crystallography) would be an advantage. Most importantly, you should be ambitious and highly motivated, able to work independently and should be confident in both written and spoken English.
