Job Description

We are seeking a motivated postdoc to work on the design and development of i) a variety of sample preparation methods (mainly for blood samples) and ii) new fiber-based substrates for Surface enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS).  
You will spearhead and coordinate our development and optimization of new SERS substrates as well as sample preparation of clinical samples that we receive from our clinical collaborators.  You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians to translate research findings into practical solutions and start-up products for healthcare applications.
The project will be conducted within the IDUN section, under the leadership of Prof. Anja Boisen, at the Department of Health Technology, Technical University of Denmark (DTU). IDUN is a vibrant research section comprised of over 50 members dedicated to advancing micro- and nanotechnology-based sensors, detection systems, and drug-delivery devices.

Responsibilities and qualifications

  • Design and fabricate sample preparation solutions (e.g. solid-phase extraction) that can be miniaturized and integrated into portable devices.
  • Perform SERS measurements and data analysis of SERS data (e.g., using machine learning). 
  • Develop, test and apply new fiber-based SERS substrates.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, microfluidics experts and nanofabrication specialists to develop portable devices for diagnostics and therapeutic drug monitoring.
  • As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree in analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering or other related disciplines. 
  • Experience in SERS and SERS data analysis.
  • Experience in sample preparation, HPLC, analytical chemistry and image analysis.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, organized, and responsible individual

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is two years.
