Job Description
If you are establishing your career as a scientist and are looking for a solid foundation to fulfill your dreams and ambitions in the context of single-cell biology, it is right here in front of you. A Postdoc position is available within the Cell Diversity Lab at DTU Bioengineering, where you will break new ground at the absolute forefront of single-cell resolution research and use your skills to answer fundamental biological questions in health and disease. The successful candidate is expected to leverage their skills in proteomics and computational analysis to interrogate the human blood system, and the heterogeneity that exists therein. You will use a combination of systems biology and data science to gain a better understanding of cell differentiation at the protein-level. Moreover, you will develop and apply next-generation molecular single-cell workflows to better understand e.g. stem cell differentiation, disease heterogeneity, and complex cellular interplays in time and space through spatial ‘omics approaches.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The successful candidate should be eager to pursue ambitious research questions using latest-technology workflows and chart new ground. You will be required to bridge different disciplines and contribute to broadening understanding of heterogeneity in healthy and malignant biological systems.
For this reason, a multi-disciplinary background is required with documented expertise in the following research areas:
- Expert understanding and ample track record of Mass Spectrometry-based proteomics
- Strong track record in both method development and application of single-cell proteomics by MS (scp-MS) workflows
- Advanced computational/bioinformatics analysis skills
- Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques, ideally including the human hematopoietic system
- Experience with automated liquid handling and single-cell isolation systems
- Extensive knowledge of disease specific domain knowledge, such as cancer or cell development
- At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience with day-to-day handling of high-end LC-MS instruments
As part of your activities, you are further expected to:
- Conduct excellent research and develop the field within the above-mentioned research areas (e.g. scp-MS, cell heterogeneity, computational proteomics, etc.)
- Foster national and international collaborations, both outside and within the university
- Teach in university courses and supervise students
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
