The Dean of the Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University announces a selection procedure for the following academic position:

Assistant or assistant professor for teaching in the field of combat sports

The Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University  is a dynamically developing faculty located in the modern premises of the University Campus in Brno-Bohunice. Our mission is to contribute through student education, scientific activity, and social engagement to a physically active and healthy life for all age and performance groups of the population, to the development of knowledge in the field of sports, and to respect for the rules of fair play in sports and in everyday life.

At the Department of Physical Education and Social Sciences, we are looking for a motivated expert in combat sports and self-defence who wants to actively contribute to the development of university education and engage in professional and scientific activities within a prestigious academic environment. Job description:

  • Teaching and developing bachelor's (SEBS) and master's (ASEBS) courses focused on combat sports and self-defence (e.g., preparatory combat, special combat training, judo, grappling, kickboxing, personal self-defence, professional self-defence, etc.).
  • Leading seminars, consultations, and bachelor's and master's theses of students.
  • Participating in the creation and innovation of study materials and teaching methods.
  • Collaboration on scientific and research projects,
  • Publishing activities and presentation of results at conferences,
  • Opportunity to participate in faculty projects,
  • Popularisation of science and research.

We require:

  • Master's degree in Physical Education and Sport or a similar field, PhD in Kinesiology is an advantage,
  • Qualification for teaching self-defence,
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language, active knowledge of English (spoken and written),
  • Excellent communication skills,
  • Ability to work independently and in a team,
  • Active approach, initiative, and willingness to pursue further education and self-development.

Expected start date: September 2025
Workload: full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (min. 20 hours/week)
