The Czech Centre for Phenogenomics, based at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Prague, offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated expert to lead the Transgenic and Archiving Module (TAM).
TAM is a vital part of CCP, responsible for generating genetically modified mouse and rat models using cutting-edge genome editing technologies. Looking ahead, we plan to expand our services to include cell-based models. TAM provides comprehensive services to the global research community – ranging from initial gene targeting design, creation of tools and models, to genotyping, cryopreservation, and breeding of specialized animal models for phenotyping.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead & manage:
Oversee the overall operation and strategic development of TAM, supervise services and experiments, manage a team of laboratory technicians, and coordinate multidisciplinary work within the module. Ensure seamless collaboration with other CCP modules. - Bring your expertise:
Demonstrate strong knowledge of (mouse) genetics and molecular biology and genome editing; embryonic stem cell (ESC) technologies is highly advantageous. Proven track record in creating genetically modified rodent models (mice, rats), including colony establishment and breeding. - Tech skills:
Cryopreservation and revival of biological samples. - Data Analysis:
Ability to analyze and interpret data from genetically modified laboratory animals using various genotyping strategies, QC analysis. - Effective communicator:
Effectively interact with national and international users, clients, and partners. - Research & Innovation:
You are encouraged to initiate research projects aimed at developing new technologies and models – both rodent and cell-based.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in biology, veterinary medicine, medicine, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of (mouse) genetics, molecular biology, and experience working with rodent models.
- Experience with genome editing technologies is an advantage but can be acquired.
- Strong interest in developing new methods and techniques, as well as leading research projects.
- Medical fitness to work with laboratory animals and biological samples.
- Fluent in English (B2 or higher) and proficient with office and database software.
What We Offer:
- A friendly international team in a dynamic environment.
- Opportunities to develop professionally, attend various specialized trainings.
