Position Description
Our random matrix research team in the School of Data Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK Shenzhen) welcomes mathematically trained postdoctoral researchers for a 1- to 2-year collaboration, offering an attractive salary between 400,000-500000 RMB/year (~58,000 - 70,000 USD).

The project focuses on analyzing machine learning techniques using random matrix tools, with an emphasis on Empirical Risk Minimization (ERM) and potentially diffusion models. The general approach involves applying flexible concentration of measure hypotheses to data and leveraging the random matrix framework to derive insights into the studied machine learning methods (e.g., performance, hyperparameter optimization, stability, etc.). The work will be conducted with collaboration with Prof. Jeff Yao and Prof. Cosme Louart.

Qualifications:

• A strong background in random matrices is required.

• Familiarity with concentration of measure results and machine learning techniques will be a significant advantage.

• A completed Ph.D. in a relevant field by the time of employment.
