Title: Postdoctoral Fellowships in quantum computing/information at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)

Multiple postdoctoral positions are available at the Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Science (IFFS), University of Electronic Science and Technology China (UESTC) located in Chengdu, China. We are looking for highly qualified and motivated candidates to participate in a research project to develop applications for near term quantum computing devices. Candidates with research experience in the area of quantum information processing and computing are encouraged to apply.

The positions are initially for two years, but can be renewed for up to six years depending on research performance. Some suggested research topics may include: (i) NISQ algorithms, (ii) quantum simulation of complex many-body systems, and (iii) quantum computational complexity. This list is not intended to be exhaustive and candidates with other research interests are also welcome. Hired postdoctoral researchers are highly encouraged to form their own research directions and collaborate with both local and international researchers.

Eligibility Criteria:

a) Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Quantum Physics or a related field. (Note: for visa application purposes, the applicant must already possess an original diploma issued by an accredited university.)

b) Ability to speak and write English is necessary for this role.

c) Applicants have to be less than 35 years old.

We offer:

i) A two year contract, which is renewable up to a maximum of six years.

ii) Opportunities for career progression into a permanent researcher position.

iii) Salary from 250,000 yuan to 360,000 yuan (about 34,000 USD to 50,000 USD). iii) A variable bonus that depends on research performance.

iv) Free/subsidized housing near campus (subject to availability).

v) 10,000 yuan yearly travel subsidy to travel back to your home country (for non-chinese citizens).
