Position Description
The Institute of Geometry and Physics (IGP) at University of Science and Technology of China welcomes applications for postdoctoral positions in the mathematical sciences. These are two year positions, and may be extended by another year. The Center is seeking in particular candidates with a strong background in differential geometry, algebraic geometry, topology and quantum field theory. However, applications from all well-qualified candidates will be considered. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in the past five years and should have a demonstrated potential for excellence in research.

Normal duties consist of teaching at most two courses per academic year, conducting research. Collaborating with the current members at the Institute is encouraged but not necessary.

Application For full consideration, applicants should send a completed AMS cover sheet, curriculum vitae, a description of current and planned research, a statement of teaching experience and philosophy is optional, at least three recommendation letters addressing the candidate's research. Applicants are encouraged to submit these materials through MathJobs.

Alongside our recruitment efforts, we also hold an annual research forum for young researchers -- the Global Youth Forum, which takes place in January each year. The forum aims to provide a platform for scholarly communication among young mathematicians to promote academic innovation. It will be held both online and offline. 【Location】 Hefei/Shanghai The Institute of Geometry and Physics has a branch in USTC Shanghai Institute for Advanced Studies, applicants can choose to work in Shanghai or Hefei.

About USTC and the city: The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is located at Hefei, the Capital city of Anhui Province. Living cost in Hefei is lower than that in Beijing or Shanghai, yet it can be reached easily from Beijing (less than four hours) or Shanghai (less than two hours) via the high-speed train system.

USTC Shanghai Institute for Advanced Studies is a new research institute established by University of Science and Technology of China in Shanghai.
