Course Title: CHM211H5F - Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry

Course Description:A rigorous introduction to the theory and practice of analytical chemistry. Development and applications of basic statistical concepts in treatment and interpretation of analytical data; direct and indirect precipitations; volumetric methods; acid-base, complexometric, redox and precipitation titrations; introduction to instrumental methods; potentiometry and absorption spectroscopy. Applications in biomedical, forensic and environmental areas will be considered.

Number of Positions (est):  4 positions. * Positions are dependent on actual course enrolment and are not guaranteed.

Course Enrolment (est): 200 students

Hours of work (est): 110 hours

Sessional dates of appointment: September 2025 – December 2025

SalaryCUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries . The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications: B.Sc. in Chemistry and/or Biochemistry. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Previous TA experience working with undergraduate students in Chemistry laboratory and/or tutorial setting an asset to be able to demonstrate and deliver course content consistently within the UofT's standards. Good communication skills are required as well.

Description of Duties: Duties will include laboratory demonstrations, leading tutorials, marking laboratory reports, and/or quizzes/assignments. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
