Position Overview

  • Development and production of large-scale, custom-designed digital signal processing readout systems for the ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter Upgrade at CERN.
  • Creating and implementing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) test
  • Designing testbenches, and contributing to firmware programming for state-of-the-art FPGA architectures, primarily Intel FPGAs.
  • Collaborating closely with researchers at McGill and partners worldwide, leveraging industry-standard tools and technologies to ensure the quality and reliability of the developed systems.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Experimental Subatomic Physics, Electronics Engineering, or related fields.
  • Relevant research experience with digital electronics and firmware programming.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm (with 1 hour lunch break)

Working hours:  35 hours / week

Location of work: McGill University, Ernest Rutherford Physics building, 3600 University Street, Montreal, Quebec.

This position is located in Montreal, Quebec, and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.

Salary information: $48,000 per annum. (Salary to be determined based on the candidate’s skills and experience).

Start date of appointment: 1 September 2025

End date of appointment: 31 August 2027 (2-year contract, renewable)


Annual Salary:
