Job Summary & Key Responsibilities | The Department of Community Health and Epidemiology in the Faculty of Medicineis seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Soillse Research Lab for Cancer Survivorship & Patient Empowerment. This fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, patient-centred research that aims to improve health and quality of life outcomes in people diagnosed with cancer and chronic conditions. The team collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate patient empowerment and lifestyle intervention strategies that enhance mental and physical well-being. Some of the key research initiatives include the Prostate Cancer Patient Empowerment Program (PC-PEP) (pcpep.org ), the Cancer Patient Empowerment Program (cancerpep.org ), and the Pictou County Personal Empowerment Program (pictoucountypep.org ). The team employs qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, and knowledge synthesis approaches to improve our understanding of survivorship needs and assess intervention effectiveness. Over the next three years, the team will be leading a research program focused on addressing the unique survivorship needs of traditionally marginalized and underrepresented individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer, through the PC-PEP intervention. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for managing, cleaning, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data. The role will also involve preparing manuscripts for publication, as well as reports, presentations and other knowledge translation outputs. Additionally, the successful candidate will be supported for career development, to gain skills with presentations, grant writing, student mentorship, as well as to apply for competitive scholarships and funding.
