Physician

OCAD University (OCAD U) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician to join our multidisciplinary team at the University’s Student Wellness Centre (SWC). This is an independent contractor role providing in-person medical care to post-secondary students (ages 17+), through both booked and same day appointments.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Deliver health care services within your scope of practice, for example, physical exams, STI screening, immunizations, cervical screening, gender affirming care, sexual health counselling, and contraceptive care
• Support students’ mental health needs with appropriate clinical care
• Participate in internal and external consultation meetings that support the overall work of SWC
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic student wellness
• Stay current in the field through professional development and association membership

Qualifications:

• Licensed Physician in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Demonstrated experience in mental health care, particularly in a post-secondary setting
• Experience with gender-affirming care is an asset
• Strong judgement and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive situations
• Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgement in crisis situations
• Proficiency with electronic medical records; experience with Telus PS Suite is an asset
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and ability to work effectively with a diverse student population
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Hours of Work:  

• Minimum of 1-2 days per week (Monday to Friday)
• Flexible scheduling
• Start Date: August 2025 

 
Compensation:

• Fee for Service via OHIP/UHIP billings and Canadian Provincial Health Insurance Programs
• A reasonable administrative overhead fee applies
• Terms to be outlined in an independent contractor agreement
