The Transformative Quantum Technologies (TQT) program at the University of Waterloo has several openings for Postdoctoral Fellowships (PDFs).

These prestigious positions are available immediately and intended for early-career scientists with an advanced degree (PhD). The selected fellow(s) will join the research group of a Principal Investigator through a TQT-funded project, and contribute to the collaborative TQT research community.

Principal Investigator: Na Young Kim

Project: Solid State Quantum Simulator

Positions: Postdoc, Undergraduate, Part-time researchers/engineers

Required Skills: high work ethic and clean organization, excellent and respectful communications

Roles: 

  • Postdoc: leading an experimental quantum simulator research project that involves extensive activities of device design, fabrication, characterization, modelling, documentation and dissemination. an independent, respectful role model researcher to junior students with high work ethics and clean organization. excellent communication skills. Technical skills: optical spectroscopy, fabrication skills, transport measurements
  • Undergraduates: Supporting graduate students with python programming in analysis and automation, or mechanical drawing/3D printing or electrical circuits.
  • Part-time computer scientists: Building machine learning models to support data analysis and numerical calculations
  • Part-time mechanical engineers:  Supporting experimental setup via mechanical design and implementation of prototypes

 

Number of Openings: 3

The appointment of the postdoc position is for two years with the possibility of renewal. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The Principal Investigators are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

These PDF positions are made possible thanks in part to funding from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund .

The term for the part-time position is for 3-4 months and will require 10-20 hours per week.
