Under the general direction of the Associate Chair, Continuing Professional Development, the incumbent provides support to the M.Eng program in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Science in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. The position plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing the recruitment and admissions strategies for this program.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising students on academic and/or financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
- Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals, and suggesting alternative course of action as necessary
- Providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies and deadlines
- Analyzing statistical information to inform enrollment projections and planning
- Producing promotional and outreach materials
- Reviewing and assessing admissions applications
- Delivering student recruitment presentations
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum four years of related experience advising students within a post secondary environment
- Experience with graduate student advising in an academic environment
- Exceptional presentation and public speaking experience is required
- Excellent computer proficiency, including intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. MS Word, Excel and Access). Excellent demonstrated knowledge of ROSI or similar student information system
- Excellent communication (oral and written skills)
- Excellent customer / client service skills, with proven ability to interact effectively with students and the public
- Ability to work independently with initiative, tact and good judgement
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply guidelines
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and work with interruptions
Assets (Nonessential):
- Familiarity with the University's policies and procedures, particularly those pertaining to the School of Graduate Studies
- Knowledge and experience in student recruitment
- General knowledge of immigration and visa requirements, as well as knowledge of Universities internationally

Work Location: This role is not currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline .
