Reporting to the Business Analyst, the Jr. Data Analyst will play a key supporting role in helping Facilities Management and Development (FMD) achieve its goal of becoming a data-driven business unit. The Jr. Data Analyst will primarily be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to enable KPI performance tracking, strategic planning, and data-driven decision making. The Jr. Data Analyst will work closely with the Business Analyst to understand reporting requirements, assist with data sourcing and transformation, and support business users in accessing and interpreting data. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data visualization and storytelling, along with a foundational understanding of data analysis, reporting tools, and business processes.
This position also contributes to documenting and mapping business processes and identifying opportunities for improvements and workflow optimization. The Jr. Data Analyst will assist in delivering user support, troubleshooting data-related issues, validating data quality, and helping ensure that reporting solutions align with the operational needs of FMD. The role offers an opportunity to develop hands-on experience with Azure ecosystem, Power BI and data analysis tools, gain insight into facilities operations, and contribute meaningfully to an organization-wide transformation toward data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Business Analyst in the development of FMD’s business performance KPIs, analytic dashboards, and custom reports using Power BI and MS Azure applications.
Collaborate with the Business Analyst and stakeholders to gather, assess, and evaluate business requirements from FMD business units and translate those requirements into business and system solutions. Solutions may take the form of design specifications for Power BI reports, recommendations for the implementation of a new system, process change, expanded use of existing functionality, or custom data queries, and analysis.
Utilize a variety of tools and systems to execute and/or design simple and complex queries and reports to produce essential data, KPIs, and dashboards from various FMD systems and tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, Visio, AiM systems (AiM Operations & Maintenance, AiM Capital Planning and Project Management, AiM Space Management, and AiM ReADY Request), Workday, Bonfire, ServiceNow, PeopleSoft, and other FMD systems as required.
Assist the Business Analyst with mapping FMD’s business processes, creating process documentations and other procedures related to the operation and use of FMD systems to support process improvements and end user training.
Develop and execute test plans and test scenarios to test new systems, modifications, enhancements, customizations, product upgrades, and new functionality.
Assist in coordinating and evaluating IT-related project requests from various FMD units.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders to assess and develop business requirements and solutions.
Ability to facilitate meetings with end users for issue definition, process mapping, and process design activities.
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
Extensive knowledge and experience with various systems and tools such as Power BI, Visio, and SharePoint.
Knowledge in the areas of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data and statistics using quantitative and qualitative methods.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or related discipline. Equivalencies may be considered.
Academic certification in Data Analytics or Business Analysis is an asset.
Extensive knowledge of business analytics, business intelligence, and data analytics solutions is preferred.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $27.13 to $35.06 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation accrual. (Classification – Programmer)
