The School of Construction and Building Sciences has an opening for a continuous Instructor in the Landscape Architectural Technology program. Candidates should be energetic student leaders, have sound communication skills in both written and oral English, be committed to student motivation and achievement, and be oriented toward student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and present classes in the classroom, online and outside
Prepare, administer, and grade examinations and lab/classroom assignments
Organize and supervise practical assignments
Participate in course and program review and curriculum development
Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
Provide on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention and respond to student issues
Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners
Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
Other duties as assigned
Teaching assignments may include any course in the Landscape Architectural Technology curriculum.
Skills & Abilities:
Considerable experience in all aspects of the practice of landscape architecture, including extensive experience in design and presentation
Working knowledge of Sketchup and AutoCAD, knowledge of Revit and GIS would be an asset
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the Landscape Architectural Technology program
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and industry-related software tools is required
Qualifications:
Degree in Landscape Architecture or a diploma in Landscape Architectural Technology
A related Master’s or Undergraduate Degree would be an asset
Eligible for membership or affiliate membership in the AALA
Related instructional experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
