  • Full-time, Continuing position  

  • Salary HEW 6 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements 

  • Based at the Bundoora campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University 


 


About The Position 


 
Under the general direction of the Technical Coordinator, the Technical Officer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of laboratories and workspaces, with a focus on supporting the anatomy and physiology spaces. This includes providing expert support for both teaching and research activities within STEM environments. 


 


The successful candidate will offer specialist guidance to users and ensure that designated areas function efficiently and safely, in line with legislative requirements and RMIT policies and procedures. 


 


They may also be required to oversee operations across multiple spaces. 


 


To be successful in this position, you’ll have:  


 


  • Experience and knowledge in the routine operation, maintenance, and training of various forms of equipment or instruments related to Anatomy and Physiology laboratories. 


  • Proven knowledge and experience working within Human Anatomy and Physiology laboratories. The ability to provide high-level support in the implementation and operation of Digital Technologies within these spaces. 


  • Experience in prosecting embalmed cadaveric material and possessing an appropriately respectful attitude to the sensitivities and ethics of working with human cadavers. 


  • Experience in the preparation and ongoing maintenance of potted anatomical and pathology specimens. 


  • Proven laboratory operations and maintenance experience, preferably in a teaching or research environment. 


  • Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area. 


  • Proven initiative and problem-solving skills, highly organised, and the ability to work autonomously and in a team. 


  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds.  


 


 


Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children, Medical Assessment and National Police Check.
