About This Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join an ARC-funded project investigating the evolution of life histories in animals and plants. The successful candidate will work under the leadership of Associate Professor Diana Fisher (Chief Investigator, The University of Queensland), in collaboration with Professor Roberto Salguero-Gomez (Partner Investigator, University of Oxford, UK) and Professor Hanna Kokko (Collaborator, University of Mainz, Germany).
This project will employ multi-species comparative approaches, population-level empirical tests, and simulation modelling to explore the evolutionary roles of nutrition, reproductive investment, sexual conflict, and competition in the development of Semel parity in males.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research: Conduct and publish high-quality research using best-practice methodologies while developing a coherent research program and emerging research profile.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).
Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate UQ-aligned citizenship and self-leadership through collaboration, active engagement in unit priorities, and cultivating productive external relationships.

About You
Completion or near completion of a PhD in evolutionary ecology, physiological ecology, quantitative behaviour ecology or related discipline area.
Experience and skills in coding and running analyses in R, and quantitative modelling to address scientific questions in evolution.
Broad background knowledge of vertebrate (especially small mammals), arthropod, and plant biology and physiology.
Evidence of ability to coordinate research project logistics, conduct research using museum collections, curate databases, communicate with team leaders & collaborators.
Track record of publication in high-quality peer reviewed journals and conferences.
Ability to work to deadlines and liaise with supporting staff.
Ability to contribute to grants for external research funding, and external service.
High level of personal integrity, transparency, and capability.
