About the Role

We’re seeking a Lecturer in Quantum Science and Technology to join the Physics discipline within RMIT’s School of Science. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, and engagement in one of Australia’s most dynamic quantum research environments.

Your responsibilities will span across:

Teaching

You will deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including course coordination and curriculum development. You’ll contribute to undergraduate, Honours and postgraduate supervision and help shape a future-ready quantum science curriculum that reflects current advances in the field.

Research

You’ll carry out high-quality research aligned with RMIT’s strengths and strategic directions in quantum science and technology. This includes publishing in leading journals, applying for research funding, building collaborations, and supervising research students.

Engagement

You’ll play a key role in outreach and industry engagement—whether through public events, partnerships, or contributions to shaping the future of quantum technologies in Australia. You’ll help amplify the impact of your work beyond academia.

Workload and Culture

At RMIT, we are committed to a balanced and supportive academic culture. The expectations for this role are designed to be reasonable and sustainable, with flexibility to align with your career stage and strengths.

Candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance during the four-year appointment—across teaching, research and engagement—may be considered for an ongoing role. Any continuation is subject to university approval and is not guaranteed.
