About the Role
The Department of English, within the School of the Arts is looking to appoint a Lecturer in English (Teaching and Scholarship).
Duties will include convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. We are looking for someone with expertise in Early Modern Literature. The role will likely involve contributing to our survey modules ESH101: Shakespeare; ESH282: Renaissance Drama, and ESH5001: Global Shakespeare.
This is a fixed-term role available as a Leverhulme-funded replacement post until 31 August 2027.
About You
You will hold a PhD in English or have an equivalent professional qualification, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, good organisational and communicative skills are also essential.

The post is full-time and fixed-term (12 months) and is available to internal candidates only with an expected start date of 1 September 2026. The salary will be Grade 5, Spinal point 37, £51,755 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
